Chip Ward

Chip Ward is a former teacher, reporter, resort manager, guest-ranch operator, and presently an environmental activist and Assistant Director of the Salt Lake City Public Library System. He is a cofounder of a number of environmental organizations, including HEAL Utah, Families Against Incinerator Risk (FAIR), and Citizens Against Chlorine Contamination, and he is on the board of the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA). He has participated in more than 200 print interviews, 80 television interviews, and 70 radio interviews, as well as given scores of lectures, presentations, workshops, and speeches on professional library topics and a wide range of environmental issues. He is the author of Canaries on the Rim: Living Downwind in the West (Verso 1999), and his work has been published in Catalyst Magazine, The Washington Post, The Event, and Salt Lake City Magazine.
