The Island Press Board of Directors includes two Student Directors positions who each serve a two-year term. We welcome applications from degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate students in good academic and disciplinary standing for a Director on a rolling basis.
Student Directors at Island Press will attend Board meetings and work with the Board of Directors and the senior management on Board committees and special projects. The positions are designed to support and nurture students who wish to gain experiences within book publishing and nonprofit environmental organizations.
Student Directors will be volunteers and voting members of the Board of Directors. They will attend Board meetings and participate in discussions of the strategies, finances, and governance that will help shape the future of Island Press. We intend for Student Directors to augment their professional development through direct experience with planning, networking, and learning about the trends and issues facing book publishing and environmentally-focused non-profit organizations. Island Press will pay for any travel and other expenses associated with their service.
