Win an exploration of the Southwest

Congratulations to Clayton Aldern on winning our grand prize!

Thanks to all of you for entering and sharing this once-in-a-lifetime event with your friends and family. Stay tuned for trail updates and a recap from Jason Mark and Clayton.

The Grand Canyon is an icon of America's national park system, but this stunning natural wonder faces a range of threats, including active and abandoned mines on its periphery compromising water quality of the Colorado River, two proposed mega developments that would exacerbate tourist overcrowding, and others. That's why conservation organizations and southwestern Native American tribes are calling on President Obama to create the Greater Grand Canyon Heritage National Monument before he leaves office.

You and a friend could join Jason in Flagstaff, Arizona from May 19th - 23rd to learn more about these threats to the Canyon and explore its surrounding wildlands. You'll begin by meeting with conservation activists working for expanded protection in the Grand Canyon and learning about the work being done to preserve the Canyon. Then you'll spend three days and two nights hiking a portion of the Arizona Trail, a long-distance trail that runs from the Mexico border to Utah. This exhilarating backpacking trip will pass through rugged groves of pinon and juniper, and finish with a stunning glimpse of the Canyon.
