Webinar: A Path Toward Healthier Agriculture
With Bob Quinn and Carey Gillam
The overuse of chemicals in agriculture has brought with it a host of health and ecological problems. Despite the risks, governments have continued to give a green light to the companies producing harmful chemical pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers, while farmers have been forced to continue their widespread use.
But around the world, farmers, scientists, and activists are working to break our addiction to chemicals and move towards a healthier, more sustainable agricultural system. In this webinar you hear from two authors who are right on the frontlines of this work.
Carey Gillam is a veteran journalist and researcher focused on digging into the big business of food and agriculture. In 2017, Island Press published Gillam's book Whitewash: The Story of a Weed Killer, Cancer, and the Corruption of Science, an exposé of the dangers of pervasive pesticide use and the corporate influences encouraging pesticide dependence.
Bob Quinn is a leading green businessman with successful ventures in both organic agriculture and renewable energy. He is co-author of Grain by Grain: A Quest to Revive Ancient Wheat, Rural Jobs, and Healthy Food, which follows his journey into regenerative organic farming.
Jeff Tkach, Chief Impact Officer at The Rodale Institute, is our moderator. Jeff is responsible for expanding Rodale Institute’s global influence in healing people and the planet by unlocking the transformational power of regenerative organic agriculture. As Chief Impact Officer, Jeff leads the development and execution of the Institute’s core strategies, overseeing opportunities for partnership and co-investment that drive positive outcomes for Rodale’s philanthropic and programmatic initiatives.
